The Department of 8S General Surgery has positions available for Registered Nurse, 12hrs. Nights.
The 8 South Surgical Units are two 24-bed surgical units located on the southeast and southwest area of the eighth floor, operated 24-hour, seven days a week, with a combined budget average daily census of 43. These units specialize in the care and treatment of adult patients who require hospitalization pre and post surgical procedures and, after trauma injuries.
The types of surgical patients most frequently admitted to these two units are those who are in need of, or have had the following procedures: Cholecystectomy, Bowel Resection, Mastectomy, Appendectomy, Gastrectomy, Gastric Bypass, Whipple Procedure, Hernia Repair, Hemorrhoidectomy, Prostatectomy, Nephrectomy, Other Urological Procedure, Thyroidectomy, ENT Procedure, Gastroplasty, Trauma Injuries, including but not limited to, abdominal, chest and urological trauma, stab or gunshot wounds, and injuries sustained from MVAs.
Registered Nurse III assumes the responsibility and accountability for the application of the nursing process and the delivery of patient care. Registered Nurse III makes clinical judgments and carries out related nursing intervention using the nursing process without supervision. Applies clinical knowledge regarding standard pattern of care to consolidate interventions for time and cost savings. Demonstrates knowledge of regulatory requirements in patient assignment making delegation of tasks, documentation. Coordinates care for the patient and delivery team. Demonstrates a commitment to customer service and an ability to meet the needs and expectations of patients and health care colleagues. One year experience in an acute care setting. Ventilator experience preferred.
Education Certifications/Licensure Experience Physical Abilities Educational, License, Certification and Other Requirements:
-B.S.N. from an accredited school of nursing is preferred.
-Current and valid registered nurse license from the State of California.
-Current and valid Basic Cardiac Life Support certificate from the American Heart Association.
-Specialty Certification is preferred.
-Must possess minimum computer competency comprised of a working knowledge of Windows or comparable system specifically including keyboarding and mouse skills and applicable to individual job duties and expectations, employee must demonstrate competency in use of the applications indicated on the competency checklist.
-Full command (written and verbal) of the English Language.
-Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
Minimum of 3 year experience e as RN in acute care setting preferably in specialty. NOTE: (minimum 1 year recent acute RN experience will be considered for Registered Nurse II)
• Working knowledge of applicable Standards of Practice.
• Demonstrates a commitment to customer service and an ability to meet the needs and expectations of patients and health care colleagues.
• Meets clinical criteria and protocol for Clinical Nurse assigned level.
-The physical ability and perceptive acuity to satisfactorily perform the essential functions of this job.
